LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading on Monday. Gold rose.
The euro was quoted at $1.1945, up from $1.1931 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
_ 118.19 Japanese yen, up from 118.16
_ 1.3067 Swiss francs, down from 1.3102
_ 1.1485 Canadian dollars, down from 1.1515
The British pound was quoted at US1.7444, up from $1.7405.
Gold dealers in London fixed a recommended price of $555.70 bid per troy ounce at midmorning, up from $552.40 late Friday.
In Zurich, the bid price was $555.60, up from $553.90.
Gold rose $8.20 in Hong Kong to $552.90.
Silver closed in London at $9.51 bid per troy ounce, up from $9.43. |
