JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel says it will resume some crucial fuel shipments to the Gaza Strip.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak's office says shipments of cooking gas and fuel for Gaza's only power plant will resume Wednesday. No gasoline for cars will be transferred.
Monday's announcement follows a weeklong cutoff imposed after Palestinian militants attacked an Israeli fuel depot. Two workers died in the attack.
Officials in Hamas-controlled Gaza have warned that fuel supplies are running dangerously low.
Israel supplies all of Gaza's fuel. Even before the attack on the depot, it had reduced shipments in an effort to pressure militants to stop firing rockets at Israel. |
