CBS Sets 90 Hours of Summer Programming

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 6:25:39 AM

NEW YORK (AP) - With two martial arts events and a drama about the shag-carpeted 1970s, there promises to be a lot of kicking and screaming on CBS this summer.

The network's new series "Swingtown," about a suburban town in the era of sexual liberation, will premiere on June 5, the network said in announcing a summer schedule Monday.

CBS, which this week canceled its reality series on secret talents of the stars after only one airing, imports Regis Philbin as host of "Million Dollar Password." Two other nonfiction series include the competition "Greatest American Dog" and "Jingles," where people compete to compose an advertising jingle.

CBS will also bring back "Big Brother" for its 10th edition.

The network said it would present nearly 90 hours of original programming this summer.

Two special martial arts events will air in prime time on May 31 and July 26.

"Cold Case," "Numb3rs" and "Without a Trace" also move to new time slots in the summer.
