HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - Zimbabwe's opposition says it will only participate in a runoff presidential vote if the international community administers the election.
A spokesman for opposition candidate Morgan Tsvangirai says the long delay in releasing results from the March 29 vote shows the electoral commission has "no capacity to run any credible election."
Tsvangirai spokesman George Sibotshiwe said Tuesday that the candidate would consider a runoff if a tally verified by both parties and the Southern African Development Community shows no candidate won more than 50 percent of the vote.
Independent tallies indicate longtime President Robert Mugabe lost the election, but garnered enough votes to force a runoff. |
