Entertainment highlights during the week of April 20-26:

1956: The first Godzilla movie, "Godzilla, King of the Monsters," premiered in New York.

1959: The first single by 13-year-old Dolly Parton was released on Gold Band Records. It was called "Puppy Love."

1969: John Lennon changed his middle name from Winston to Ono.

1975: Peter Ham of Badfinger hanged himself. He was reported to be depressed about the band's financial problems. He was 27.

1978: The Blues Brothers — John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd — made their network debut on "Saturday Night Live."

1989: Lucille Ball died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at age 77.

1992: Singer David Bowie and fashion model Iman got married in a secret ceremony in Switzerland. News of the wedding was not announced until more than a week later.

1996: Actress Margot Kidder was found dazed and disheveled, hiding in bushes in a stranger's yard in Los Angeles after disappearing for three days.

1997: The ashes of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry were shot into orbit.

2002: Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC was killed in a car crash in Honduras. She was 30.

2002: Jerry Lee Lewis announced he and his sixth wife, Kerrie, were divorcing after 17 years of marriage.

2003: Actor Alan Thicke was hit by a puck while playing hockey. He lost five front teeth and had to have 30 stitches in his face.
