Panthers QB Moore escapes serious injury

Friday, August 29, 2008 12:49:12 PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Carolina Panthers backup quarterback Matt Moore doesn't have any broken bones or damaged ligaments in his left leg after a hard hit in a preseason loss to Pittsburgh.

A team spokesman said Friday that tests came back negative and Moore will be listed as day to day. It's uncertain if he'll be ready to play in the season opener on Sept. 7 at San Diego.

Moore was hit late in the third quarter Thursday when two blitzing Steelers went unblocked. Safety Anthony Smith went in low to take out Moore at his legs. The Steelers won 19-16.
