Recalls: Smoked salmon, children's cosmetics bags

The following recalls have been announced:

_Trans-Ocean Products Inc. of Bellingham, Wash., is recalling its 4-ounce Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon (Lot No. 54933-2) because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon, 4 ounce packages were distributed to three supermarket chains in seven states: Brookshire Brothers in Texas and Louisiana; Price Choppers in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Vermont; and Giant Eagle in Ohio and Pennsylvania. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers with questions may contact Trans-Ocean Products. Call 800-290-2722 Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over the Labor Day weekend, call 360-739-4181.

_ About 945,000 Bonne Bell children's cosmetics accessory bags, made in China and imported by Bonne Bell Co., because the metal clasps on the bag's handle contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by children. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled accessory bag, made of plastic, comes with cosmetic products, which are not part of this recall. The product was sold at retail stores nationwide and Bonne Bell's Web site from September 2007 through this month.
