LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The high-selling yearling early in Keeneland's September sale was a bargain compared to her mother's sale price less than a year ago.
The bay filly by Giant's Causeway sold Monday for $850,000 to John Warren's Highclere Thoroughbred Racing out of England. The filly's dam, Playful Act, sold for a record $10.5 million at Keeneland's November sale last year.
Warren joked that he doesn't consider any $850,000 purchase to be "cheap." He says he plans to take the filly back to Europe.
Keeneland has listed a record 5,555 yearlings in the sale, which concludes Sept. 23. |
