Bourque has big game against father's old team

Saturday, September 27, 2008 7:04:09 PM

BOSTON (AP) - Chris Bourque had a goal and an assist against Hall of Fame father Ray's former team, and the Washington Capitals stayed unbeaten in the preseason with a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

Bourque, whose father played most of his career with the Bruins, wristed a shot past Tim Thomas on a power play with 2:15 remaining in the third period.

The Bruins (2-2-1) fizzled on several third-period power plays, including a 5-on-3 after Petteri Nokelainen tied it at 3.

Bourque also had an assist on Chris Clark's power-play goal in the first period that gave the Caps (3-0) a 1-0 lead. Boyd Gordon and Tomas Fleischmann also scored for Washington.

Andrew Ference and Blake Wheeler had the other goals for Boston.
