LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Jockey John Velazquez was released from the hospital Saturday, one day after a spill at Keeneland left him motionless on the track.
Velazquez checked out of University of Kentucky Medical Center Saturday afternoon and had no broken bones, said Terry Meyocks, national manager of the Jockeys' Guild. Meyocks said he is scheduled to go home to New York Sunday.
"He is going to rest up and hopefully be back riding soon," Meyocks said. "He will not be riding tomorrow."
Velazquez was thrown from his mount, Tap Dancing, Friday during the seventh race on Keeneland's opening day of the fall meet. Fellow jockey Jamie Theriot also was thrown but able to walk off. |
