TOKYO (AP) - Japanese stocks are soaring in early trading following spectacular rallies in markets across the global.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index jumped 937 points, or 11 percent, to 9,213. Japanese financial markets are playing catch-up to the rest of the world because they were closed Monday for a public holiday.
Sentiment in Tokyo turned upbeat after investors took heart from widespread government efforts to shore up the world's battered financial system. |
