MILAN, Italy (AP) - The management of La Scala says it has reached a deal with a performers' union to save the gala premiere of the new season.
The famed Milanese opera house says a union representing orchestra and choir members agreed Monday evening to accept a new contract.
The FIALS union had threatened to strike the theater's premiere of Verdi's "Don Carlo." The opera is being directed by Daniele Gatti and opens the new season Dec. 7.
Other unions representing 90 percent of La Scala's 800 full-time workers approved the new contract earlier this year. |
